Task 2
Is it always the Fire and Rescue Service that put out fires?
Throughout schools, offices, shops and factories, fire extinguishers and fire fighting equipment can be found in various locations and are an option to tackle a fire. But if they were good at their job, surely we would not need to call out the Fire and Rescue Service?
1. Identify the types of fire extinguishers and fire fighting equipment commonly found, and why we need different types?
Use this format to present your answer:
1.1 List all the types typically found in the workplace and how they are identified
1.2 List the types (classifications) of fire and how these are symbolised
1.3 Detail which of the fire extinguishers can be used for each classification of fire
1.4 Using the fire triangle, explain the effects each piece of equipment will have on a fire.
2. Make a ‘safety check list’ poster of things to be considered before tackling a fire.
Think about the size, location and type of fire, and the person(s) who might tackle the fire.
Also think about how much advice you would want to give and whether it would be remembered six months later? Perhaps it would be useful to highlight key information that would stand out for someone to look at in an emergency. Please present your work in your portfolio
