Get Walking

Walking, even for part of your trip, can help you arrive feeling alert and ready for anything!

Using the Bus

Catching a bus has never been easier!

Cardiff has a large bus network that is being continually improved to ensure it can be a real alternative for more people. Cardiff has dedicated bus lanes to help make journeys quicker and real time bus information at bus stops to help you know when the bus is due to arrive.

Travelling by train

There are also several positive economic and environmental benefits of travelling by train. Arriva Trains emit 70% less CO2 than cars! Using the trains means less congestion in the city centre and savings in fuel and car parking charges for the visitor / commuter.

Instead of driving why not Park and Ride?

The Park and Ride scheme is proving popular in Cardiff. It offers a quick, easy service to the city centre without expensive car parking charges. Cars are secure away from the centre in a manned car park with CCTV coverage.

Travelling on Water!

Cardiff Bay Barrage has created a fantastic waterfront and huge freshwater lake. It's an attractive destination for work and leisure and its link with the River Taff and River Ely has provided another way to travel into and around Cardiff.

Two services run into Cardiff. Both provide regular services from Mermaid Quay at Cardiff Bay.

Cardiff Aquabus

The Cardiff Aquabus runs a scheduled service from Mermaid Quay to the city centre 7 days a week with the first service leaving Mermaid Quay at 10.30am and then ¼ past the hour until 4.30. Services leave the city centre at castle Grounds on the hour with the first leaving at 11am and the last at 5pm.

Cardiff waterbus

Cardiff waterbus operates from Mermaid Quay to the Penarth end of the Barrage. This service allows visitors to see Cardiff Bay in a more leisurely way.
