Management of demand

Cardiff City Council wants to reduce the demand for travel overall and restraining the use of the car through:

  • Giving priority to buses by introducing dedicated bus lanes in the city centre and areas supporting Park and Ride
  • Supporting Park and Ride at railway stations
  • Reducing the number of long stay car parking spaces in the city centre

Network management

Cardiff City Council wants to ensure the city's infrastructure supports all types of sustainable travel and encourage people to use it by:

  • Providing city wide CCTV and new technology to help people feel safe in their own city and to help the flow of traffic and decrease congestion.

  • Introducing Civil Parking Enforcement to make sure that illegal and inconsiderate parking is reduced, making it easier for buses to keep a fast and efficient service and improving the safety of people who make the positive choice to travel on foot or by bike.
