Sustainable Developments Jordan - The Development of ecotourism

What are the problems with tourism in Jordan?
INFORMATION

Before looking into tourism in Jordan it is necessary to understand the basic economic and political situation of the country. Essentially, Jordan is a moderate and relatively peaceful Arab country in the Middle East with a population of about 5 million people.

Jordan shares international borders with Iraq, Israel, Syria and Saudi Arabia. Politically, Jordan is stable and has not experienced the widespread social and political unrest seen in the neighbouring countries although minor unrest has been reported. However, the instability of neighbouring countries may well impact on inbound tourism to Jordan.

Tourism is very important to Jordan. The capital city Amman, the ancient city of Petra and the desert area of Wadi Rum are amongst the most important destinations.
