Location and accessibility
The three Cayman Islands, Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, are located in the western Caribbean about 150 miles south of Cuba, 460 miles south of Miami, Florida and 167 miles northwest of Jamaica.
The islands occupy a central position within the Western Caribbean Sea. The sister islands of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, lie approximately 90 miles east-northeast of Grand Cayman and are separated from each other by a channel about seven miles wide.
The Cayman Islands are accessible by air and are well served by a number of USA based carriers as well as British Airways. The islands also have their own airline, Cayman Airways, which operates schedules to a number of cities in the USA, Jamaica and Cuba as well as flights between the islands.
Travellers from the UK may choose a number of options to reach Grand Cayman. They can choose a British Airways flight which is direct, with a stop at Nassau in the Bahamas, or they can fly to Miami in Florida. Alternatively, they can fly to other American cities, such as New York and change planes.
