UNIT 5 - LEADERSHIP STYLES

There are three basic styles of leadership:

AUTOCRATIC

This involves the leader making decisions themselves, with little or no consultation with anybody else. There is clear, quick decision making but workers do not feel part of the business and are less likely to want to work hard for it.

DEMOCRATIC

There is consultation with this leadership style. The leader may put forward their own ideas but will ask others what they think and be influenced by what they say. Workers are more likely to be motivated if consulted but decision making is likely to be slower and less clear cut.

LAISSEZ-FAIRE

This is really is where there is no leadership but everybody acts as they wish. This is likely to produce chaos.
