Suggestions

  • Your wife would not be classified as a primary victim as she was not exposed to danger.
  • To be a secondary victim, your wife must be in close proximity to the event. This means she must witness the event with her own unaided senses or hear the event in person or view its immediate aftermath.
  • In Alcock v Chief Constable of South Yorkshire [1991] it was held that persons who witness the event on television, hear it on the radio or are informed about the event from a third party are unlikely to be classified as secondary victims.
