(c) Explain the possible benefits and challenges of Catholic mission and evangelisation in Great Britain today. AO1 [8]

(i) Catholics are called to spread the word 'Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations.'

(ii) Evangelium Vitae says '........'. In fact, there is even a special Catholic organisation for mission overseas called 'Missio'.

(iii) because it is a duty to offer the faith to all in order to offer salvation to all; this will benefit others.

(iv) to develop mutual understanding and respect because it gets people of different religions talking together and can serve to strengthen faith.

(v) because they may feel uncomfortable with mission and may see it as arrogant and offensive way of forcing faith onto them.

(vi) and that their own beliefs could be damaged or weakened by a focus on the beliefs of others.

(vii) for example, some Atheists and Humanists may feel that mission is inappropriate in a society like ours which has become far less religious than it used to be; this makes evangelising even harder.
