  1. Bowlby’s 44 thieves study showed that children who had suffered maternal deprivation were more likely to be classified as affectionless psychopaths and therefore experience behavioural issues such as becoming a delinquent.
  2. McGinn found that daughters of working mothers enjoy better careers, higher pay and more equal relationships than those raised by stay-at-home mothers, even adjusting for factors like their greater levels of education.

  1. Lepper asked nursery children to draw nice pictures and found that when promised a reward, the children spent half as much time drawing as children who were not promised a reward.
  2. McAllister looked at inappropriate talking in high school English lessons and found that increased use of teacher praise and disapproval led to a decrease in this behaviour.
