When the Welsh word and the English word sound the same it’s easy to make a spelling mistake. Think about what words come into this category and learn the correct spelling.

Make sure you know the difference between the verb and the noun. These are some examples of where students mix these.

Students often make mistakes when using the time. Learn the correct spellings now so that you can avoid any problems in the future.

• ____ o’r gloch = ____ o’clock (Remember the apostrophe)
• hanner awr wedi ____ = half past ___ (Remember there is a double "n")
• chwarter wedi / chwarter i = quarter past / quarter to (Remember the “r” in the middle of the word)

There is a mutation after “yn” if you are using an adjective. It’s a SOFT MUTATION.

e.g. tal > yn dal
diflas > yn ddiflas
gwych > yn wych
