Castellano argues that there are no principles in Stirner’s thought that are universal, out there, to be accepted or discovered as true for everyone. Even the principle of egoism is not a universal principle because my interpretation of my own authenticity may be radically different to yours. It is the uniqueness of each person that Stirner concentrates on rather than the idea of egoism as a philosophy. Hence there are no shared values – Stirner is a nihilist (one who denies any values exist).
