Give students the paper-based resource called ‘Last two digits of your phone number – student sheet’. Ask them to write down the last two digits of their phone number. Then show them the images on the screen one at a time. Extol the virtues of each item before asking them to decide whether they would pay the price in pounds equal to the last two digits of their phone number.

Then ask them to fill in the maximum price they would pay.

First ask the students if they would allow their phone number to influence how much they would pay for an item.

Now ask the students to shout out the last two digits of their phone number and then give you the maximum price they would be prepared to pay for the items.
